Heysel disaster occurred on 29th may in 1985 involving supporters from Liverpool and Juventus and resulted in thirty-nine deaths and six hundred injured people. The cause of the disaster was due to hooliganism of Liverpool fans and poor dilapidated concrete wall in the stadium. Security protocol such as lack of timely flow of information among the police reinforcement resulted in a more devastating situation. Current security strategies such as seats in stadiums could have prevented Heysel incident since supporters could be in a designated position under good police watch. From the incidence it is evident that men are more involved in violence because of the environment they are socialized in since childhood from the norms, stereotypes, and messages passed, and that’s why more men succumb or are injured during violence cases.
