Home security systems also use tomographic motion detection sensors. Unlike the previously discussed sensors, these ones do not need a direct line of sight to generate a security notification (Sheahen, 2020). These types of sensors are relatively novice, with most of them being used on a proprietary basis. They use a mesh network of radio receivers and emitters to sense any motion taking place in this network. Any interruption between a receiver and an emitter will automatically be interpreted as motion, thereby triggering a security warning. Microphones are the final type of sensor used in home security systems (Sheahen, 2020). Unlike other sensors that use the electromagnetic spectrum to generate security notifications, microphones use the audio spectrum to achieve this outcome. Such a phenomenon allows these sensors to sense inaudible frequencies that might otherwise be missed.
