Human Resources Plan

Human Resources Plan

You are a Human Resources (HR) program of one. Based on information learned in this course, create a Human Resources plan of the steps needed to create a one-person HR department. The design of the HR department must correspond to the various dimensions of the organization. For example, if there are multiple customers, products, or locations, then HR needs to support them all.

In your paper:

  1. Provide a clear and concise summary of the business (name, industry, number of people, etc.).
  2. Create a detailed plan by completing the following:
    1. Develop a recruitment and selection plan.
    2. Design a training and development plan.
    3. Design a compensation package for the people hired.
    4. Discuss legal issues the company should consider (e.g., the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission).
    5. Develop a performance appraisal system.
  3. Provide support from scholarly sources in regards to the decisions made in the creation of the HR department.

Please avoid writing on a large organization.
1. Read the instructions carefully. If you have any questions, please contact me ASAP. 2. The project is designed for students to assume the role of a HR manager designing a HR program for an organization. The HR Department will consist of one individual — You! Take the approach that this organization is a new start-up and you’re designing a first-time HR program for this organization. You can certainly use an organization with which you are familiar identifying the HR issues that currently exist. In case you haven’t realized it, the questions I posed to students throughout the discussion threads in the course were posed to help students prepare for this final project. 3. Avoid writi ng about an organization that is large (e.g., Wal-Mart, McDonald’s, Amazon.com) and likely has a complex and existing HR program. Keep the organization small and manageable so you can address your plan more easily. Don’t take on additional challenges that you might not be able to conquer. 4. Be sure to write about all the aspects of HRM indicated (a-e) in Item 2. You must include all these aspects and not choose one of them. I had an excellent student in a previous course who wrote an excellent Compensation and Benefits plan for an organization but didn’t write about the other aspects of HRM. Despite the great paper, it was incomplete and did not fulfill the requirements of the assignment. 6. Pay close attention to APA formatting, especially if I’ve been giving you feedback that your APA formatting is problematic. For example, if I’ve been telling you that your citations are formatted incorrectly and that they don’t comply to the format I posted in in Announcements at the beginning of the course (Sample Citations), I’m going to be wondering what effort you put into correcting APA formatting. I’ll likely be harsher in grading, too.
