With his many other businesses, Andrew dominated the steel industry for many years until he retired in 1901, selling his steel company for four hundred and eighty million dollars to J.P Morgan. Andrew created a vertical monopoly in the steel industry by obtaining control of the entire steel manufacturing process from raw materials, distribution, selling, and transportation (Hartmann, 2020). Before he retired, he had acquired the biggest share of the steel industry in the United States. At the end of the 19th century, the vertical monopoly of steel was now called the U. S steel under J. Ps management did little with the resources as he did not have the same vision as Andrew Carnegie.
