Answer previewBy making adjustments to notes of a raga, one can obtain several different ragas. The adjustments are made through placing tonics at different notes in the raga. That is, a raga can use a similar format, but the way in which notes are used makes them different. For example, at 3:52 in the video, Ravi Shankar discusses how importance is given to different music notes in ragas with a similar format, which makes different meanings(Shankar, 2012). Artists can use paintings to show their imaginations, which communicates different feelings. Some ragas are easily identified as they start being played, while others keep the audience wondering what raga is being played. In my opinion, musicians should relieve their audience from suspense by revealing the type of raga they are playing.
