5.3 Qualifications

This discussion activity consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: Research and summarize the qualifications needed to perform aircraft inspections, oversight functions to ensure quality aircraft inspections, and the importance of training programs in maintaining an effective aircraft inspection program.
  • Part 2: Research a typical job listing requirements to be hired as an aircraft maintenance technician. Assume that you are a manager of an aircraft inspection organization. Write your own job listing requirement to hire qualified maintenance technicians. Focus on what qualifications you would be looking for; some qualification examples might include education, training, experience, and certified licensed mechanic just to name a few.

Aircraft inspections are necessary in ensuring that all aircrafts are in proper flying condition. Only qualified individuals inspect an aircraft. The first qualification of an aircraft inspector is a vast knowledge of mechanics and engineering. Such knowledge comes from colleges and universities by learning either aeronautical engineering or any aeronautical science.
