Stereotyping is a process or the concept of generalizing a group of people and associating them with a specific behavior or attribute. The generalizations may in some instances be used in quick decision making which affects individuals and encourages prejudice. Stereotyping may sometimes be unconscious, but it leads to biased decisions and may cloud the judgment of an individual. In a situation requiring critical thinking, an individual may forego the process just because of a stereotype associated with the issue.
