Nurse managers are increasingly becoming critical to the proper functioning of health care facilities. They play an integral role in not only ensuring patient safety but also the provision of high-quality care. Over the years, their participation in decision-making has constantly been on the rise, especially at the top level. To better understand the role a nurse manager plays within a hospital, I set up an interview via zoom with one. Linda Graham has worked as a nurse manager at St John’s hospital for three years, and as such, will provide valuable insight into the responsibilities and duties placed on her. This paper will also capture her perspective on how various external factors, such as health policy, regulatory requirements, accreditation, and health care financing, affect decision-making.
