Pull upon any HR experience you may have. Then, in your own words, write one or two paragraphs answering the following question: Suppose you are a supervisor; what errors might you make when preparing a performance appraisal on a clerical employee? How might you avoid those errors? No plagirised work!

Answer preview

Supervisors usually want to perform their performance appraisal in a very objective manner, however, when rating employees, errors, bias, and subjectivity are usually unavoidable (Iqbal, Akbar, and Budhwar, 2015). One error that I might make as a supervisor is unfairly judging some of the mistakes that are made by an employee. This is because I may forget that a clerical employee may have committed a mistake while following the direction they had been given by their superiors. Another error that I may commit as a supervisor is the hallo effect. This is where I may rate an employee through the few areas they have performed well and forgetting to rate them in areas where their performance was mediocre.
