Journal – Why Unions?

If management gets a union, it deserves one. This statement means that the management of the company has the right to form workers union if they feel the need to have one to address the emerging issues of the workers. The reasoning behind this statement is that unions are formed as a result of poor treatment of employees from their employers. In some cases the management itself can be faulty and hence the unions may be formed. The unions are created with a purpose of protecting the worker’s common interests and ensuring that they have better working conditions. The union is the bridge between the employer, the management and the employees. Unions give the workers a chance to have collective bargaining power, as a member of the union, the employee enjoys the benefits of having his or her payment negotiations done on his/her behalf by the union representatives (Cascio, 2018). The employers are required to have a good faith bargain with the union members in case an issue arises, and both parties should try to settle by negotiation.(282words)
