Another critical attribute of a leader is their preference and support for innovation (Blok et al., 2021). This attribute makes leaders transformational, considering they embrace change and are aware that even when things are not working, there is always a better way to do them. Managers are predominantly transactional and, thus, will often seek to maintain the status quo. Due to this, managers should be able to refine structures, processes, and systems to improve them (Blok et al., 2021). The final attribute of a leader is their risk-oriented nature. Leaders are willing to try new things even though they might fail (Blok et al., 2021). Managers are a bit different, considering they are predominantly risk-averse. Due to this, they will find ways of minimizing or controlling risk rather than embracing it.
