Learning about servant leadership through research and interacting with course materials was quite good. However, seeing the application of this leadership approach within my practicum setting gave me a new perspective pertaining to servant leadership. I was among the lucky few who got a chance to observe a nurse manager who embraces servant leadership within clinical settings. One of the critical roles played by a nurse manager is to ensure that patients get access to high-quality and safe medical care (Doucette, 2017). From what I gathered from my nurse manager, in order to successfully fulfill such a duty, nurse managers have to work in tandem with the subordinate nurses.
