leadership roles in healthcare,

DNP graduates are prepared to assume leadership roles in healthcare, identify clinical practice problems, translate evidence into
practice, and implement and evaluate evidence-based solutions to positively impact patient and population outcomes.
The student will write a scholarly paper that identifies a clinical problem and clinical site to address the problem. The paper will
define evidence-based practice (EBP) and the problem/population, intervention, comparison, and outcomes (PICO) framework for
addressing clinical practice problems, identify a clinical practice problem and provide a one sentence problem statement, describe the
problem’s significance, and ask a clinical question in PICO format that can guide inquiry for EBP solution(s).
*Please note: If entering NSG 7431 Project I: Mentored Scholarship next semester, the identified clinical practice problem for this
assignment should be about the practice problem to be addressed by the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) project.
*If not entering NSG 7431 next semester, identify and discuss any clinical practice problem that should be addressed by an EBP
intervention for this assignment.

Assignment Criteria:
Students will develop a scholarly paper that addresses the following criteria:
1. Define evidence-based practice (EBP).
2. Explain the PICO Framework.
3. Identify a clinical practice problem.
4. Discuss the significance of the clinical practice problem (Background).
5. Write a one sentence problem statement.
6. Use the PICO Framework to construct a one sentence clinical question to drive inquiry for EBP solution(s).
7. Discuss a potential EBP solution that can be applied in the clinical practice setting as a DNP project.

8.The scholarly paper should be in narrative format, 4 to 5 pages in length, excluding the title and reference pages.

9. Include an introductory paragraph, purpose statement, and a conclusion.
10. Include level 1 and 2 headings to organize the paper.
11. Write the paper in third person, not first person (meaning do not use ‘we’ or ‘I’), and in a scholarly manner. To clarify: I,
we, you, me, our may not be used. In addition, describing yourself as the researcher or the author should not be used.
12. Include 4-5 professional peer-reviewed scholarly journal references to support the paper (review in Ulrich Periodical
Directory) that are less than five years old.
13. APA format is required (attention to spelling/grammar, a title page, a reference page, and in-text citations).

HERE IS MY PROPOSED PROBLEM/PICOT QUESTION:

The following is a DNP clinical problem proposed in PICOT format. In Hispanics/Latinos (the patient population), how does adequate screening (experimental intervention) compared with inadequate screening (comparison intervention) affect mortality (the outcome)?

Requirements: narrative format, 4 to 6 pages in length, excluding the title and reference page

provide an outline with this paper as well. I will send a list of textbooks used for this class aswell as it is mentioned in the criteria above.

Answer preview

The purpose of this research is to identify inadequate cancer screening among Hispanics as a significant clinical problem due to high risks of mortality and then apply the PICO framework to inquire for EBP(s) solution to the problem.

Definition of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)

A working definition for EBP is the process of ANPs ensuring care is based on conscious use of knowledge from a variety of sources such as randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, clinical expertise, among others which are critiqued and found to be credible and relevant to the specific clinical question through evaluation of patient values and preferences (Astalos-Chism, 2019; Zaccagnini, & Pechacek, 2021).
