Literature review: The use of clinical systems to improve outcomes and efficiencies
Review the Resources and reflect on the impact of clinical systems on outcomes and efficiencies within the context of nursing practice and healthcare delivery.
Conduct a search for recent (within the last 5 years) research focused on the application of clinical systems. The research should provide evidence to support the use of one type of clinical system to improve outcomes and/or efficiencies, such as “the use of personal health records or portals to support patients newly diagnosed with diabetes. Identify and select 5 peer-reviewed articles from your research.
Synthesize the peer-reviewed research you reviewed. Be sure to address the following: Identify the 5 peer-reviewed articles you reviewed, citing each in APA format. Summarize each study, explaining the improvement to outcomes, efficiencies, and lessons learned from the application of the clinical system each peer-reviewed article described. Be specific and provide examples.

Patient safety is a critical issue in the health industry and more important in an ICU setting or an acute care environment. This means that patients’ engagement and team communication between patients, family members, and care providers is essential to ensure patients safety. Patients’ engagement encompasses training patients on their position in individual care to optimize on quality outcomes. Research through literature review acknowledges that there exists a gap in patient engagement, and it is of importance to engage patients and family members in an ICU. ICU setting presents three phases that require a partnership between caregivers and the family to improve on family-patient centered care. The collaboration helps in reducing adverse events in an intensive care unit because care providers have information on the current position of patients. For instance, research through review establishes that it is crucial to implement a structured intervention in communication failure processes and medical errors. This is because medical errors lead in patient’s deaths, and also communication failures cause adverse events. Safeguarding a patient’s safety and focusing on a patients experience in ICU improves satisfaction levels. Research establishes that it is essential to incorporate patient engagement and team communication…
