Answer preview

The Bonus Army comprised approximately 43,000 protestors, with 17,000 of them being American WWI veterans, and the rest were family members (Tuccille, 2018). These protestors came together in Washington, D.C, in mid-1932. The purpose of this gathering was to demand payment of the money promised to them under the World War Adjusted Compensation Act of 1924 (Tuccille, 2018). On 28th July 1932, the A.G. General William D. Mitchel gave a directive that the protestors should be removed from any government property they had occupied.
