In chapter 6, “create a climate of trust,” focuses on the importance of leaders having trust in followers. The concept that I found most interesting was when the trust was compared to a growth hormone. The idea was that trust transforms green sailors into seasoned shipmates (Abrashoff, 2007). Also, it turns troubled organizations into dynamic competitors. I found this statement to be quite fascinating since it emphasizes how trust can yield growth. It is compared to making deposits to achieve interests thus growth in the long-term. Lack of trust in a ship or company divides the members into factions. It minimizes the combat readiness and ability of the teams to tackle and handle challenges. Also, productivity increases since individuals trust and assist one another for the collective good without hesitation or doubt. This concept of creating a climate of trust ensures that all members of an entity are winners.
