The overall lack of sexual knowledge among clinicians creates the need to identify further the factors that facilitate sexual offense among IDD individuals. The prevalence of offending people with intellectual disabilities has increased over the years (Lindsay et al., 2017). Central policy programs should be implemented to enhance academic and research interest in the subject. I believe that further knowledge on the topic will clarify clinicians and criminal investigation agencies about the link between people with IDD and their vulnerability to committing a crime.
