Aging is a natural and inevitable complex process that has common characteristics for most elderly people. Through these characteristics, it is possible to know whether someone is aging normally or abnormally. Normal aging is a complex process that is progressive and predictable in which normal body functioning gradually declines over time (Taffet, 2020). However, it is important to note that normal aging does not include diseases that result in extreme degeneration of the body’s performance. For instance, forgetfulness is normal for older adults, but forgetfulness that threatens daily living could be a case of dementia. Typically, during normal aging, the body organs’ speed slows down, and there may be the presence of illnesses because of this, such as glaucoma for the eyes.
