Institutional and community correction vary based on their operations and development. Organizational corrections are established to occupy a large number of prisoner populations, unlike community prisons, which are often overpopulated (Clear, Reisig, and Cole, 2018). Another difference is that community corrections are usually created to accommodate the non-violent offenders since they will not serve long-term sentences so that they can be integrated back to the society. However, Institutional prisons hold violent offenders that may even be serving life sentences; thus, their operations are focused on long-term activities.
