My last project was riddled with numerous communication and coordination challenges, largely due to the diversity of the team members. The project team was comprised of people from different age groups, genders, races, and ethnicities. Furthermore, some of the project members were located in different countries. Working together and agreeing on various things associated with the project was quite challenging. Such an aspect led to numerous conflicts, as members constantly clashed on the best approach to do things. Rather than showing the leadership and conflict management skills needed, the project manager opted to ignore the underlying contributory factors of these disagreements. He often looked for the culprit and source of the conflict and reprimanded them. Ultimately, the project was not completed on time, and the resources used were extensive since the numerous disagreements led to some members quitting the project.
