Research Ethics and Validity
Review ethical principles learned and discussed this week. Using the University Library, locate one current (2010 to present) US-based health or healthcare related peer-reviewed research study with possible ethical concerns. As peer-reviewed, there will be no ethical issues, but consider ethical standards as related to each step in the research process. Be sure it is research study, not an editorial, commentary, news brief or review. The focus should be on the research process, not the specific health or healthcare issue. Consider possible ethical concerns in the research process such as recruitment, sampling, research methodology, data collection or data collection instrument, etc.
You may use a research study you identified in the Week 2 Annotated Bibliography assignment if appropriate, but not the same article used in the Week 3 Team assignment. If so, do not self-plagiarize or copy/paste content from your week-2 assignment.

Abnormal Psychology in the Movies
For your final project you will be writing a paper in APA format. (See details below.) Your paper should be approximately 4-5 pages or 1200-1500 words. Your paper will focus on the main character of one of the movies listed below. Each character suffers from a particular mental illness (or illnesses) covered in this course.
What About Bob?
Silver Linings Playbook
Rain Man
Melancholia
The Good Son
Fight Club
Boys Don’t Cry
Leaving Las Vegas
When a Man Loves a Woman
A Beautiful Mind
Girl, Interrupted
Shutter Island
The Hours
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Requiem for a Dream
28 Days
It is your responsibility to find a way to watch one of those movies.
Please post your movie choice in the “Final Project Movie Selection” discussion forum before the end of week 1.
After watching your selected movie, it’s time to focus on the writing portion of this assignment. The goal of your paper is to analyze the main character and his or her abnormal psychology.
Please utilize the following headers within your paper:
Introduction: Introduce the character you are writing on and summarize the plot
Symptoms & Diagnosis: What specific symptoms did the character experience in the movie? What diagnosis would you give them?
Nature or Nurture: Was the character’s mental illness a result of biological or environmental influences? Explain.
Preexisting neurological disease
Select one of the conditions/issues listed below for the Respiratory System, Cardiovascular System, or Endocrine System.
Investigate your selected classical condition* with at least 2 current (within past 5 years) professional (not patient-focused) peer-reviewed resources (may use the textbook in addition to the 2 resources), 1 of these must be the latest clinical guidelines – and post a teaching power point presentation for your peers. Do not include patient-focused resources in your references. Write your slides using professional terminology. You are expected to include risk factors or causes, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, ways to prevent or slow progression, treatments, and key interprofessional collaboration on a maximum of 11 slides (including references) with a minimum font of 18. The last slide should be references.
You may narrate the presentation or use Panopto if you would like. This is not required. You may also use a web-based presentation program other than power point provided all students can access the program.
Scholarly writing criteria: Use upper and lower case. Use professional terms (eg. MI rather than heart attack). Cite your source(s) on each page -including pictures- using APA format.
