Instruction
There are two sub-assignments for Assignment #2. Follow the instruction for each sub-assignment.
Assignment #2-1: Personality Test (Total 30 points)
Complete the Big-Five personality survey (Step 1) in Appendix 1. Then, calculate your scores using the equations in Step 2 of Appendix 1. The results may be interesting, but please interpret them with caution. Then, answer the following four questions. In answering these questions, you do not need to indicate what your results are. Your results are private and confidential.
Q1-1. In your opinion, what is this test measuring in theory and practice? Do you think what this test measures in theory and practice are the same? In other words, do you think the validity of this test is high? Why or why not? Use specific examples (or refer to specific questions in the test) to explain your answers. (5 points)
Q1-2. Suppose you are a job-seeker. Overall, was it easy to “game” the test? Why or why not? Use specific examples (or refer to specific questions in the test) to explain your answers. (5 points)
Q1-3. Based on what you have answered in Q1-1 and Q1-2, do you think this kind of test can provide valuable information to potential employers? Why or why not? (10 points)
Q1-4. Suppose you are a staffing manager at a company that uses this test to examine the personality types of job candidates and to make hiring decisions. Based on your experience with this test and what you have answered in Q1-1, Q1-2, and Q1-3, make a suggestion(s) for this test to be a more useful hiring tool for the company. (10 points)
Assignment #2-2: Personality and Job Performance of Sales Employees (Total 30 points)
You are a staffing manager of W-Pure. W-Pure is the largest company in Wonderland that sells water purification systems for individual households. One of the largest and most important employee groups in the company is the salespeople. The sales methods that these employees utilize include visiting individual homes, setting up an information booth in various retail stores and fairs, running a blog on the company’s purification systems, and more.
The company utilizes a personality test in the hiring process of the salespeople. The company surveys the Big-Five personality dimensions of a job candidate and he or she receives a score for each dimension on a five-point scale. Although a job candidate has a score for each dimension, the company only uses the score for the extraversion dimension. The company believes that the most important personality trait of a salesperson is an extrovert. So, the company thinks that a

salesperson will do a better job (i.e., sell more water purification systems) as his or her extraversion score is higher.
A dataset containing the personality test results of salespeople and their sales performance is attached (Excel file). There are two sheets in the Excel file. The sheet data contains the data that you need to analyze for this assignment. The sheet explanation contains the explanation of the data in the data sheet. Using the data provided, answer the following questions.
Q2-1. Conduct a simple linear regression and correlation analyses with job performance as the dependent variable (Y) and each personality dimension score as the independent variable (X). Summarize your results using the table provided in Appendix 2. (You’ll need to do five sets of analyses.) (10 points)
Q2-2. Based on your analyses results in Q2-1, is it true that salespeople who are high on the extraversion score do a better job than the salespeople who are low on the score? Why or why not? (The question is asking ‘why or why not’ in terms of analyses outcomes, and not just your thoughts or beliefs.) (10 points)
Q2-3. Based on your analyses results in Q2-1, make a suggestion(s) of how W-Pure can use the personality test results to better select (or hire) salespeople who are likely to sell more water purification systems. For example, are there some other personality dimension scores that the company should consider in making hiring decisions of its salespeople? Why or why not? (Again, the question is asking ‘why or why not’ in terms of analyses outcomes, and not just your thoughts or beliefs.) (10 points)
Important Notes
1. In answering the questions, NEVER copy-and-paste any part of the textbook or any other sources. Write the answers in your own words. If more than seven consecutive words are identical to someone else’s writing (including the textbook and any other sources), it will be considered as plagiarism, and you will receive 0 points for this assignment.
2. To do the Assignment #2-2, you need to watch the video Simple Linear Regression and Correlation Analyses Example in Module 3 – Part 1. And to better understand the contents of this video, you need to watch the videos Simple Linear Regression Refresher (in Module 2 – Part 5) and What is a Correlation? (in Module 3 – Part 1).
3. See the Appendix 3 for the grading rubric.

Assignment #2-1: Personality Test (Total 30 points)
Q1
The test is measuring the correlation between personality and job performance. The tests that the theory and the practice are the same. The validity of the test is high because it tests five aspects of personality, and they are translated in the job performance. For instance, question 3 asks whether an individual does a thorough job. Therefore, the tests can be applied to evaluate a job applicant (Kinnunen & Parviainen, 2016)…
