William James advocates the need to identify the power the inner self. James believes that faith can shape the future and not hypothesis. Hypotheses, dead or alive, are made based on our beliefs. So, a hypothesis should trigger one to act based on what he/she believes. James further defends his thesis that we should use our passional nature to verify certain propositions. According to him, we fail to know the truth about scientific questions and discoveries by refusing to act. Still, James believes that individuals should start asking moral questions on social relations or religious question to finding truths (Archie, 2004).
