Answer preview

The advantages of Plato’s moral foundation do not outweigh its disadvantages.  It is because there is numerous criticism that questions the application of the ethical theory in the physical world. Some philosophers reject Plato’s moral idea because it does not fit in the realities of moral life. The connection between virtue and happiness is not maintained in his moral concept.  It is irrational for Plato to suggest that nobody does wrong willingly because human beings sometimes fail to withstand the will’s weakness. Many people who engage in wrongful acts do that in the full knowledge that it is both wrong and unlawful with the sole intention of benefiting from the immoral acts. Nevertheless, Plato’s moral theory incorporates the theory of knowledge and forms of good; thus, it poses an advantage because it is based on real values, which are at the least ideal.
