The revolution was provoked by many issues, including economic interests, mutual misunderstanding, and political interests. Most commonly, the American merchants sparked the revolution who was curtailed by the Britain regime from smuggling and an increase in the tax level. The removal of the French threat in the northern part gave Americans the confidence to fight for their own independence.
