Like most professions, ethical practice is mandatory in behavior analysis. The desire for credible professional credentials became clear early in the history of ABA (Johnston et al., 2017). The first efforts to formulate a framework to encourage ethical conduct and professionalism started in the early 1970s (Johnston et al., 2017). Over the years, numerous frameworks have been developed to promote ethical conduct and professionalism. Furthermore, since the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) came into existence in 1998, its “Guidelines for Responsible Conduct for Behavior Analysts” served as the governing doctrine for ethical conduct in the profession (Johnston et al., 2017).
