Kaliyadan & Kulkarni (2019) affirm that quantitative variables are either be discrete or continuous. Continuous variables are those whose values can be a whole number, fractions, or mixed numbers. Variables such as Body mass index, weight, height, blood pressure, and body temperature are considered to be continuous as their values can assume fractions. In many studies, there are population characteristics that are represented in discrete variables. The values of discrete variables assume only whole numbers or integers. The variables age, number of siblings, years in academics, hours spent at work, and number of cars are possible discrete variables in research. Quantitative variables produce quantitative statistics such as mean and standard deviation, while qualitative variables show frequency distribution.
