Distinguishing students based on male or female creates a sense of identity. Therefore, learners who fail to fit in with these labels and identities face stereotypes from peers. It exerts pressure on students to conform and identify with notions of masculinity or feminism. The influence is more significant among teens who are compelled to construct their identities through sexuality and gender. The unequal outcomes also arise from unfair competition and attention from teachers and administrators. The unequal outcomes are caused by the teachers and administrators who intentionally and unintentionally promote a hidden gendered curriculum. Reinforced behaviors and gender binary teaching often influence peers and schoolmates.
