My name is Armstrong, and my topic for discussion is, “Influence of Social Media on Politics.” Social media has helped many political figures to reach many people mostly during the political campaigns due to the minimal cost and that it enables direct communication. The 2016 statistics show that 70% of the American adults are on Facebook while as 20% are on Twitter and 35% of this population follow the political figures closely (McElwee, & Yasseri, 2017). Although social media was not invented for political purposes, its impact has been of great significance when compared to the traditional campaigning strategies.
