Reflected appraisals are a common concept in psychology that refers to how individuals attain a perception of themselves. The method in which an individual thinks that others perceive them tends to impact their perception (Sims, 2016). It revolves around the step that one is undergoing in evaluating their personality. This concept had applied to me at a personal level when I joined college. During my first year, people had friends they made on the first few days, which I did not undertake to make new friends. Therefore, in their engagement, these students interacted within their groups. As a result, I thought that the other students viewed me as unfriendly or shy of talking to his colleagues (Sims, 2016). This perception affected how I viewed myself as I become more introverted and shyer of speaking before a group of people.
