There is a belief among college students that alcohol helps to ease challenges in life. Unfortunately, this is not the case since it worsens the situation by creating dependency and addiction. Some students joined college but had to drop out. It is because binge drinking became a routine that eventually affects their academic performance. Others had to be expelled for indulging in risky behaviors such as violence, theft to buy alcohol, which is not an appealing outcome. Most people realize the addiction when it is too late because it usually begins with the intake of small amounts and results in the misuse of alcohol. It is because, over time, the body builds a tolerance to the drink and demands more to achieve the same level of pleasure (Wrye and Pruitt, 2017).
