One challenge is that children struggle to cope with memories of misfortune having lost one parent. Accepting the change and embracing a new family setup is a task for them. Secondly, creating a new family culture is not an easy task. This is due to a pool of differences that have to be dealt with while trying to accommodate each other. Thirdly, ex-spouses and parents always will linger in the picture. In most cases, their reactions or actions will affect the progress of the new family. (Papernow, 2013).
