Language broadens one’s horizon intellectually through the expressive words used when communicating or learning new words, as seen in Keller’s case. Hence, language is a tool for self-expression, allowing people to convey their feelings, thoughts, and message. Langer (8) says, “…language, has so completely taken possession of the human mind that it is not only a special talent but a dominant, organic need.” Keller extends on Langer’s statement by showing how she got a eureka moment when she learned how to say the word “water.” In this case, Keller says she “felt a misty consciousness as of something forgotten-a thrill of returning thought; and somehow the mystery of language was revealed to me” (par. 50).  She knew that the learned word “meant the wonderful cool something that was flowing over my hand, That living word
