The 2005 Texas city refinery incident occurred through the ignition of a hydrocarbon vapor that exploded at the isomerization process sector at the refinery. The event not only killed 15 workers but also injured a score of 180 employees who got severe damage from the ordeal. The Texas City oil refinery was the third-biggest refinery in the nation and the second biggest in the state of Texas before the incident.
