Based on the above arguments, the jury’s final verdict is that Montresor is guilty. He shall be imprisoned or fined for his actions. This decision is arrived at after reviewing the argument of the prosecuting and defense attorney. The argument that the court should wait for the bones and DNA results is not applicable because it is requesting evidence that has not been presented before the court. The fact that Montresor confesses that he killed Fortunato and remembers everything that happened is enough evidence to conclude that the suspect is guilty.
