The Siege of Bastogne was a military engagement between the United States of America and German forces at the town of Bastogne towards the end of 1944. The engagement was part of the more massive Battle of the Bulge. Germany was interested in the Antwerp harbor, and they were determined to reach it before the Allied powers got there (Parker, 1991). Germany could not get relief as George Patton Jr of the Third Army shifted his attack to the East denying them a chance to stabilize (Parker, 1991).
