Lean manufacturing is a systematic method of minimizing waste with the exception of affecting the productivity. According to Shi, (2016), in lean manufacturing, the main focus is on what is beneficial or adds value to a company while it disregards or reduces those things that are of less value to the organization. Waste minimization in lean manufacturing is known as Muda while Mura and muri mean waste created through unevenness and overburden respectively. There are eight essential leaning techniques that are used by various companies in waste management. These are kaizen, poka-yoke, 5s, just in time, Kanban, jidoka, talk time and lastly heijunka.(1173words)
