Answer preview

Victimology is a field that has had its roots since 1940, which had ideas of classifying victims. Hans Von Hentig’s theory classified victims based on their contributing degree to the criminal act, while Mendelsohn’s theory stated that victims who got victimized had an unconscious attitude that led them to victimization (Johnson, 2017). Mendelsohn created six classifications’ that focused more on the crime victims than examining the criminals, including Innocent victims, guiltier than the offender, with minor guilt, guiltier as the offender,  imaginary victim, and most guilty. On the other hand, Von created thirteen classifications based on social, psychological, and biological factors that contributed to crime.
