The UCLA striker’s march was intense; the workers were furious, and this could be seen in their facial expressions and the words they shouted as they marched along. I remember seeing one of the followers urging the workers to chant, “We want justice,” and everyone followed. In every strike, protestors have to chant slogans to make a point, and such slogans are evident in Lerner’s experience in, “The Strike” (Lerner, 1934). I had never seen such a massive crowd of people fuming with anger. Believe you me, if anyone happened to cross their path by going against their words that could have been a disaster.
