After reading the article Nonprofit Truth or Consequences: The Organizational Importance of Honesty, for three days please write journal every untruth you have witnessed or committed in the workplace or at home and what, if anything, has supported truth telling. Successful organizations promote a culture of honesty, trust, and ethical conduct among employees and leaders. However, these organizations are encompassed with people from diverse backgrounds who have varying values and beliefs that do not match the ethical culture promoted in organizations. In this case, some employees believe that the only way to go about specific issues is by telling lies. According to Belton (2005), relying on untruths is considered as an easy way route that allows individuals to avoid unpleasant consequences like hurting their colleagues or punitive measures.
