The term export refers to sending products or services from one country to another for consumption (Ceglowski, 2017). Such exports earn money for the country of origin, thus increasing the country’s GDP. Exportation is made possible by international trade and the willingness of external markets to buy the country’s goods and services. Export competitiveness defines the ability of a government to achieve value addition when exports are compared to imports (Ceglowski, 2017). Exports are essential to a country’s economy because they offer more markets to the produced goods and services. The United States is one of the largest exporting countries in the world, as has been widely reported. However, the news has been reporting about the decline of US export competitiveness far from the truth since the US is almost at par with the world’s largest exporting country in export competitiveness.
