Answer  preview

The catastrophic earthquake that happened in Haiti in 2010 caused a lot of destruction. Like other disasters, no one was expecting the earthquake, which means that people were comfortable in their houses or places of work. After the earthquake, 222,570 people died, while 300,000 people were left with injuries (Hotz et al., 2010). Therefore, community and faith-based organizations provided temporary homes where people could rest while they recover from injuries. However, the people of Haiti had so many problems after the earthquake. There was no enough food, water, and homes. As a result, people were at risk of other illnesses like cholera, dehydration, malnutrition (Cohen, 2011). During the medical mission trip, the commonly treated health complications were bone fractures, wound infections, trauma, and head injuries. Therefore, nursing interventions were needed to manage the impact of the earthquake.
