Background information.

Mary Perez immigrated from her natal Dominican Republic when she was 18 years old. She worked hard and enrolled in college to learn English and get her degree. She is the single mother of two beautiful kids who are Mary’s motivation to continue working on her education and to better herself. Mary enjoys going to the movie with her daughter and taking her her to soccer games. She also likes to read and volunteer as Sunday school teacher.

In early 2016 her two year old son was diagnosed with severe autism. The diagnosis was devastating to Mary and forced her to quitted her job and school so she could become a full time caretaker. As of December 2018 Mary son is doing better thanks Mary’s care and continue behavioral, speech and occupational therapy. Thanks to this experience Mary discover here thru calling in life. She will like to go back to school to become a pediatric nurse.

Mary Perez, a single mother of two beautiful kids, a son, and a daughter, is one of the luckiest immigrants living in the United States following her act of moving from her native country to the United States. Among the many immigrants from the Dominican Republic to the United States, the more significant percentage composes of women. For instance, in 2012, among all immigrants from her country, 56% were women. Mary immigrated at a mature age of 18 years (Foner, 2018). From all odds, she was in the working age, and this contributed much of her achievements.
