Land use is the utilization of land for human activities. Urbanization comes at the great cost of deforestation. Deforestation involves cutting down of trees in forests for timber. Timber is famous for its value in construction and as a fuel source. The value of timber does not, however, match the cost of deforestation to the environment (Lawrence & Vandecar, 2015).  An example of the negative impacts of deforestation is visible in Sierra Leone.
