Variable refers to values that have no fixed patterns. That is, it is a value that keeps on changing depending on the entities that it represents. An example of a variable from the Health Behavior Data Set is weight. The weight of a person is measured in kilograms and varies according to body size. If a group can present their weights, the numbers they give would differ from one person to the other. Therefore, weight is a random variable. Besides, weight is obtained through measurement, which means it is a continuous variable. For example, it is hard to predict the weight of the next person using the previous readings. It is because the value can change randomly within a plausible value range. Therefore, it is correct to say that weight is a random-continuous variable.
