  2. Scenario: Your friend, an 8th-grade earth science teacher at the local middle school, is organizing an Earth Day celebration for his students and their families. He knows you have recently been learning about environmental policies in this environmental science class and has asked you to be one of several guest speakers at the event. He would like you to explain to the students how scientific research and public awareness of an environmental issue led to an environmental policy or law. 3. Use the policy and issue you selected for your Wk 5 Discussion – Environmental Policies in Action.

    • Examine the impact of relevant legislation or initiatives. What are the benefits? Have there been any consequences?

Include at least 2 outside resources to support your conclusions.

Requirements: As directed.

Answer preview

Good morning students, I am (Student’s name). Your teacher, who is also my close friend, informed me that he is organizing an Earth Day celebration and asked if I could be a guest speaker and educate you kids on environmental issues, specifically what you can do to influence policy changes to address the environmental issues. The environmental issue we shall be covering today is the problem of plastic pollution. This session will be divided into a couple of sections. We will begin by looking at what plastic pollution is and what causes it, then proceed to cover its effects on the environment and people. We will then look at how people and communities worked to deal with this issue and conclude by examining the impact of a law enacted to address plastic pollution.
