Week 2 Topic:
Though English is considered the primary language in the United States, the native language of many American students is not English. This discrepancy leads to many challenges for educators in determining the best method for educating students with little or no knowledge of the English language. Some believe that the best way to prepare students to become a part of their community is to immerse them in an English-only program, while others state that students will benefit more from a dual-language program.
Read the English-only or dual-language education on pages 96-97 in our textbook and conduct research on the effectiveness of these two programs.
Based on your research, which program would you promote and support? Why do you believe your program is the better choice? Explain the challenges involved with this program and determine courses of action that could be utilized by educators to overcome these challenges
.2. Your initial post (your response to the topic) must contain a citation. It is your ideas supported by research. Please refer to the APA Power Point in the Start Here section of the classroom for information on proper formatting. There will be a deduction of 20 points for failure to cite a source within your initial post and to provide a reference at the end of your initial post.

Answer preview
Many people and children in the United States speak another language apart from English at home. Schools play a critical role in integrating English as a language and into the education curriculum across the country. In the past, views, and attitudes about how to best ensure that English learners gain high levels of functional competency in English as fast as feasible have primarily guided policies and actions in the United States. Hence, the English program has only been used in the past to educate learners (Gándara, 2021). The program Dual language education is a practical approach to integrating and developing language proficiency through English and a partner language. Dual-language training takes many forms. Some programs shift kids to English-only after a few years, while others promote continual two-language immersion at various ratios. The main aim is an attempt to improve literacy and fluency in multiple languages.
