Answer preview
Tyson’s parents relocated to a neighborhood known for having high crime rates. Being in an environment with an affordable house, Tyson’s parents saw it best fit to relocate there, considering they were experiencing financial challenges. The setback is the parents failed to research the environment’s health and impact on their children (Bartollas & Schmalleger, 2017). With time, Tyson made friends with thugs who slowly introduced him to neighborhood crimes. In the process, the lack of parental monitoring also contributed to Tyson’s gang involvement. His parents were hardly at home since they had to engage in different jobs to make ends meet; therefore, they did not realize that their son was a criminal in good time. The missing parental connection and ample family time made Tyson hunger for companionship and protection, which he found in the gang that had friends he referred to as his family.
