The purpose of this paper is to describe how an individual can teach by example, its influence on ones’ ethical and moral development and the Rousseau’s philosophy of education. According to McEwan (2011), there are various ways in which an individual can teach by example either through practice, imitation or example. Firstly, one may teach by example when they actually act exactly what they teach or proclaim. For instance, when a teacher teaches their students about being responsible in terms of honesty and respect they should also have the same standards that they set for the students (McEwan, 2011). Secondly, one may teach by example if they have children since they always strive to imitate their parents. For example, a son may follow in the footsteps of his father by doing what their dads do. Thirdly, teaching by example through practice may occur when a parent does something together with their children such as cleaning utensils after meals or pronouncing words correctly.(450words)
