Technology advancement such as the use of the internet has contributed to the evolution of English language in various ways. The use of social media, in particular, has contributed to the development of informal communication through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and others that people use to communicate. Today, there’s no need to publish information in traditional ways since through social media, information can reach large masses and even offer instant interaction between individuals (Ellison, and Boyd, 2013). Through the use of social media, the English language has been modified for convenience purposes leading to change in the English language.
